Quality Assurance System
Yaşar University Quality Assurance System consist of; Academic Quality Unit, Research and Innovation Quality Unit, Administrative Quality Unit and Sustainability Quality Unit sub-systems.
Academic Quality Unit Subsystem, (Click here for PDCA Cycles) The educational processes of all programs have been designed with the collaboration of the academic unit faculty members of the University Curriculum Simplification and Regulation Working Group affiliated to the Bologna Coordination Commission, and since the 2018-2019 Academic Year, the curricula have been updated in associate degree and undergraduate programs, and in the 2019-2020 Academic Year in graduate programs. It is ensured that the internal and external stakeholders of the relevant Academic Units come together under the supervision and control of the Bologna Coordination Commission. The Bologna Coordination Commission provides the rules for the implementation of the committees determined in this framework. The Commission is also responsible for ensuring that the standards set for educational activities are implemented. The continuity of these processes is supervised by the Education Commission. In the current practice, opening new programs mostly proceeds from the bottom up, first the Faculty/Vocational School/ School of Applied Sciences/Institute Board, then the Education Commission, and then the Senate, and then the Board of Trustees.
As a result of the curriculum update studies initiated by the University Curriculum Simplification and Regulation Working Group in 2017, the MÜDEK accreditations in the Industrial and Electrical-Electronics Engineering Departments of the Faculty of Engineering were completely renewed, and the Computer and Software Engineering Departments are in a position to apply for accreditation. ILEDAK Accreditation Certificate was received on 08.04.2019 for the Departments of Public Relations and Advertising, Visual Communication Design, Radio Television and Cinema in the Faculty of Communication. Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture received MIAK accreditation in 2022, and Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design received TAPLAK accreditation in 2023.
Issues related to education processes are defined together with the aim-target and sub-metrics within the scope of the University’s 2020-2025 Strategic Plan. Planning, monitoring and evaluation processes are carried out within the scope of “Yaşar University Strategic Planning and Monitoring Activities Directive” and “Yaşar University Quality Assurance Directive”.
Research and Innovation Quality Unit Subsystem,(Click here for PDCA Cycles)It performs the functions of adding value to information and transferring information before the research and application centers of our university and relevant directorates. The activities of these centers and directorates are carried out by considering research and innovation performance metrics, entrepreneurial and innovative university index rankings, strategic plan metrics, and are reported and controlled according to the same metrics. The activities of the unit are improved with a holistic approach that combines future plans with improvement suggestions as well as continuous monitoring. R&D, Innovation and Entrepreneurship; It has been determined as one of the focal points of the high-quality education and research mission that establishes the scientific culture of the university and contributes to the development of society in the local and global sense.
The main purpose of the Research and Innovation Quality Unit Subsystem is to ensure that the research activities of the institution are managed in a way that is compatible with the academic priorities determined within the framework of the strategic plan and local, regional and national development goals, can create value and can be transformed into social benefit, appropriate physical infrastructure and financial resources are created for these activities and their ensure that its effective use is maintained. Within the framework of this purpose, the PDCA cycle was clearly defined, the activity reports of the sub-units were evaluated and consolidated in line with the strategic plan metrics, and the maturity levels were determined according to the planning, implementation, controlling and taking precautions (PUKÖ) steps in the YÖKAK graded evaluation key. How the members carry out their activities is evaluated according to the PDCA steps, it is observed that the cycle is kept in operation with the principle of continuous improvement and measures are taken in this direction.
Administrative Quality Unit Subsystem,(Click here for PDCA Cycles) It undertakes a complementary task to education and research activities, which are the main activities of universities. As a matter of fact, in the Higher Education Law No. 2547, “The purpose of higher education is: a) Students; … (2) to raise individuals who carry the national, moral, humanitarian, spiritual and cultural values of the Turkish nation, who feel the honor and happiness of being Turkish, (3) who place the benefit of society above their personal interests, who are full of love for family, country and nation, …” (Art. 4). In this context; It is ensured that our students and employees have social awareness through activities carried out by taking into account the various social and cultural needs of the society we live in. For this reason, a sub-system has been created that will reach the goal of contributing to the society with scientific research projects, social responsibility activities, University-Industry collaborations, trainings organized by the continuous education center, and social, cultural and artistic activities.
Sustainability Quality Subsystem,(Click here for PDCA Cycles) It aims to secure the social, environmental and economic objectives of the university in the medium and long term in the implementation of the University’s Research and Innovation, Education, Internationalization and Social Contribution Strategies. In line with this long-term goal, it ensures that the administrative and academic units of the university work in harmony with each other in accordance with the strategic objectives of the Yaşar University Strategic Plan. It ensures that the resources to be allocated and allocated from the budget to all units are in line with the strategic plan objectives. The Sustainability Quality Subsystem ensures that the activities carried out in all units of the university are monitored with the annual performance metrics defined in the strategic plan, that they are improved in accordance with the strategic goals, and that targets and actions are updated when necessary, and these processes are secured by the PDCA translation.
