SENATE
Job description of the Senate in accordance with paragraph a of Article 14 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547;
Article 14
a.Establishment and operation: The Senate, under the presidency of the rector, consists of vice-rectors, deans, a faculty member from each faculty to be elected by the faculty committees for three years, and the directors of institutes and colleges affiliated to the rectorate.
b.Duties: The Senate is the academic organ of the university and performs the following duties:
(1)Deciding on the principles of the university’s education, scientific research and publication activities,
(2) Preparing the draft laws and regulations concerning the whole university or to express an opinion,
(3)Preparing the regulations related to the university or the units of the university, which will come into force by being published in the Official Gazette after the approval of the Rector,
(4)Examining and deciding on the annual education program and calendar of the university,
(5)Awarding honorary academic titles that are not subject to an examination and to decide on the proposals of the faculty boards on this subject,(6)Examining and deciding on the objections to the decisions of the faculty boards and the institute and college boards affiliated to the rectorate,
(7)Selecting a member of the university board of directors,
(8)Performing other duties assigned to her by this law.
