OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY BOARD
The duties and powers of the WHS board are as follows:
a)To prepare a draft occupational health and safety internal directive suitable for the nature of the workplace, to submit it to the approval of the employer or employer’s representative, to monitor the implementation of the directive, to report the monitoring results and to determine the measures to be taken and to put them on the agenda of the board,
b)To guide employees in that workplace on occupational health and safety issues,
c)To evaluating the hazards and precautions related to occupational health and safety in the workplace, determining the precautions, notifying the employer or employer’s representative,
ç) To carry out the necessary research and examination in case of any occupational accident that occurs in the workplace, and the incidents that have the potential to damage the workplace or work equipment, which are not considered as work accidents, or in case of occupational disease or a danger related to occupational health and safety, and to determine the measures to be taken with a report. to the employer or employer’s representative,
d) To plan occupational health and safety education and training in the workplace, to prepare programs related to this subject and rules, to submit to the approval of the employer or employer’s representative, to monitor the implementation of these programs and to provide feedback in case of deficiencies,
e)To plan the necessary safety measures in the maintenance and repair works to be carried out in the workplace and to control the implementation of these measures,
f)To monitor the adequacy of the measures taken for fire, natural disaster, sabotage and similar hazards in the workplace and the work of the teams,
g)To prepare an annual report on the occupational health and safety situation of the workplace, to evaluate the work of that year, to evaluate and determine the issues to be included in the next year’s work program according to the experience gained, and to make an offer to the employer,
ğ)To meet urgently and make a decision regarding the right to abstain from work, which is stated in the 13th article of the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331,
h)To work towards developing a coherent and general prevention policy that covers the effects of factors related to technology, work organization, working conditions, social relations and working environment in the workplace.
